At the outset, the team at Guires were all decked up in their traditional best with the men folk donning white waistees, while the women folk were beautifully attired in sarees, adding a festive look to the environment. This was a welcome shift from the routine strictly formal wear.

The Founder-Chairman – Ganesan, and the CEO – Dr. Radhika Ganesan, graced the occasion with their august presence and in line with tradition, the CEO lighted the ceremonial lamp and performed pooja, praying to the Almighty for prosperity, abundance, and the well-being of the organization and its employees.

To add more spice to the proceedings, the HR department organized a ‘Pongal’ competition, where the staff was segregated into four teams, where each team was required to prepare the customary ‘Pongal’, a sweet made by cooking rice mixed with milk and jaggery. In the true competitive spirit, the team members competed with the other teams to finish the task first while churning out the sweetest Pongal.

The celebration ended on a joyous note, highlighting cultural pride, unity, and teamwork which is a hallmark of Guires. The event on the whole was not simply to celebrate tradition but rather it was a meaningful reminder of new beginnings, shared values, and gratitude.

31^st December was a date that the team awaited with bated breath for more than one reason. First, in anticipation of celebrating the end of an eventful year and welcoming the forthcoming New Year. Second, the big ‘Secret Santa’ reveal, and third, the downtime, the refreshing break from the monotony of day-to-day work.

To mark the event, a celebratory lunch was organized by the organization with a menu that tickled the palate of all. The non-vegetarians were served with mouth-watering mutton-biryani while the vegetarians feasted on a delectable vegetarian platter.

In the evening, at the prefixed hour, Guiresians assembled at the area designated for the celebration. The Founder-Chairman – Ganesan, and the CEO – Dr. Radhika Ganesan always ensure to be a part of such events. Their presence added warmth and significance to the event, as they shared anecdotes and motivated the team with their words of encouragement. What ensued was an evening of fun and frolic with some exciting games, followed by a joyful exchange of gifts, ending the Secret Santa suspense.

The event ‘Honouring our Roots, Shaping our Tomorrow’ was celebrated at the Esthell Village Resort, Tirukazhukundram. The resort was a haven for nature lovers as it was nicely ensconced in a scenic locale, offering a sprawling space for a variety of activities including cycling paths and playgrounds. The celebration was held in the Emerald Banquet Hall, which was airy, and spacious to accommodate the whole strength of Guires and more. The event commenced with a traditional lighting of the lamps by the Chief Guests, followed by a welcome speech delivered by one of the sales leads. The day was filled with various traditional activities, ranging from Uriyadi competition to Tamil poetry recitation, leaving everyone in a joyous and spirited mood. 

The festivities were kicked off by an exciting Uriyadi competition, which is typically a game dominated by men. Nonetheless, this year, the female employees of Guires proved the stereotype wrong and emerged as the champions. Their exceptional skills demonstrated that women could thrive in games that have traditionally been male-centric. The intense competition displayed the determination of Guires’ talented women. 

Following the Uriyadi competition, the Rangoli competition took center stage. Teams from different departments put their creativity to the test, showcasing their artistic talents on the floor. Among the vibrant and exquisite designs, one of our teams scooped the first prize, impressing everyone with their intricate and visually appealing Rangoli. 

 Adding to the excitement, a round of Musical Chairs brought out the competitive spirit in Guires’ employees. Laughter filled the air as participants eagerly hustled to claim a seat before the music stopped. The energetic game added a touch of friendly rivalry, fostering team spirit and bonding among colleagues. 

 In keeping with tradition, a unique activity of finding coins from flour was organized. Participants dived their hands into a plate filled with flour, searching for hidden coins. It was a messy but exhilarating experience, leaving everyone in high spirits and creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and connection. 

The highlight of the day was a mesmerizing Tamil poetry recitation by one of Guires’ talented employees. With his captivating voice and profound emotions, he transported the audience to a world of verses and poetic beauty. The recitation received resounding applause, leaving everyone in awe of the employee’s talent.

During her lecture, Dr. Radhika emphasized the next-generation protein market trends and classified them into four categories based on their maturity in the market. These categories included ‘Emerging,’ comprising insects (e.g., black soldier fly larvae, mealworm tenebrio molitor), culture-based and cell-based meat, and single-cell protein other than mycoproteins. ‘Children’ included algae (Red seaweed, ducksea weed) and fungal proteins, while ‘Adolescents’ featured pea, rice, corn, and potato proteins. The ‘Matured’ category comprised soy, wheat, canola, and mycoproteins. She also addressed the technical challenges involved in formulating alternative protein products, while highlighting the immense opportunities present in the market.

Dr. Radhika stressed the importance of providing a basic source of protein to consumers before they switch to meat analogues. She urged the development of diverse products using protein as a source to meet the basic Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) requirement.

The presentation included FRL’s market research findings on various protein products available in the market and their own products developed using protein as a source. The audience was introduced to a range of ingredients that farmers could produce, such as probiotics, nutraingredients, isolates, concentrates, resistant starch, and plant-based extracts. Dr. Radhika discussed strategies for production and the innovative thinking approaches required by farmers to produce new and sustainable products.

The festival also provided an excellent platform for Farmer Producers Organizations (FPOs) to showcase their innovative products formulated from organic ingredients. The exhibition featured a diverse array of food products, including millet-based ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook options. Some highlights included banana-based granola cereals, moringa-based nutrition bars, dips, soups, millet and herbal teas, millet flakes, and ready-to-cook upma. The event also featured an impressive display of soaps made with organic ingredients.

A Christmas party is an excellent opportunity to recognize our employees’ efforts throughout the year.   It is the best time publicly acknowledge our team’s efforts over the previous year. The Christmas’ New Beginnings, Magical Endings’ event was full of exciting activities and joy. Every member of Guires was grateful for the successes we made this year and had high hopes and expectations for the following year. Many of us filled the stage with joy with our dancing, singing, and other creative activities. 

Our respected CEO and COO spoke about the principles that Guires firmly believed in and wished us a happy holiday season.
