Food Research Lab (FRL), the food and nutrition R&D unit of Guires, presented Certificates of Internship to students who successfully completed its 2026 internship programme. The interns joined from colleges, universities and institutes across India, with backgrounds in food technology, food science and nutrition, and sourcing and procurement.
Unlike classroom-based training, the FRL programme places students inside a working contract research and product development organisation. Interns were assigned to departments including Production and R&D, where they worked alongside our food scientists, nutritionists, quality and procurement teams on live client projects, from concept and formulation to pilot production, testing and documentation.
Students gained practical experience in product formulation and reformulation, sensory evaluation, shelf-life and stability studies, quality control, food safety and regulatory documentation, and ingredient sourcing and vendor evaluation. Crucially, they learned to work with real-time data: recording observations, analysing results and understanding how evidence guides decisions in a commercial R&D setting.
Each intern was supported by a dedicated mentor and worked under the same standards of accuracy, confidentiality and integrity that our clients rely on. On completion, certificates were presented by FRL leadership, including our CEO and R&D Director, Dr Radhika Ganesan, in recognition of their commitment and progress.
The best way to prepare the next generation of food scientists is to let them work on real problems, with real data, alongside experienced mentors.
The programme is also a bridge between industry and academia. By partnering with universities, colleges and R&D institutes, FRL helps align academic learning with the skills industry needs, opens pathways for collaborative research and student projects, and gives faculty and institutions a practical window into contemporary product development, regulatory and supply-chain practice.
For students, the benefits are tangible: industry-ready skills, confidence in a professional laboratory and production environment, a stronger portfolio for higher studies or employment, and a clear understanding of how food science translates into safe, nutritious and commercially viable products.
For Guires, nurturing young talent is part of our responsibility and our passion. Many of today's industry leaders began with a single opportunity to learn by doing, and we are proud to offer that opportunity with honesty, care and high standards.
Food Research Lab welcomes collaborations with universities, colleges and research institutes in food technology, nutrition, dietetics, biotechnology and supply-chain management. Institutions interested in internships, joint research or industry-academia programmes are invited to get in touch with our team.
